Cultural diversity is one of the main assets of the city of Rio de Janeiro. In recent years the local government has increased its investment capacity in cultural production in the city. However, identifying the actors, actions and their spatial logic is still a great challenge to the city hall. Using ArcGIS Online, the Pereira Passos Institute created the Participatory Map “Culturas Cariocas” with the aim of helping the government to identify public and private cultural activities in the city.
