Effectiveness of PM Program within a Sewer Collection System using GIS

Integrating GIS and utility asset management leads to a significant reduction in work order backlogs, and saves on time and costs, while the wastewater collection system operates at optimal levels. To verify the effectiveness of the Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program with respect to sewer overflows and backups, GIS was used to manage asset data from various sources, creating one unified database, which assisted to facilitate the decision-making process for PM using spatial analysis.
