PennDOT’s Traffic Data System Manages 20 Million Monthly Records

With 92 in-pavement and 45,000 short-term traffic count locations, PennDOT’s newly re-designed, five-module Traffic Data System (TDS) processes 20 million new records each month. Built on the Esri platform, the TDS facilitates collection, validation, and analysis concerning the volume, weight, class, and speed of vehicles traveling throughout Pennsylvania. Featuring a Field Operations Module, the TDS helps manage new counting devices, raw traffic data, and annual traffic volume map creation.
