Estimating Peak Runoff for Greater Colombo River Basin - Sri Lanka.

Peak rate of runoff provide the basis for decision making such as flood monitoring, managing & designing of drainage structures. Peak discharge is the greatest amount of runoff coming out of the watershed of any one time. Intent of this paper is to provide a method of approximating the urban runoff. Study aims to analyze each catchment in Greater Colombo river basin, Sri Lanka. Sub Catchments delineation is done using hydrology tool in ArcGIS & flood discharges are derived by rational equation.
