This session explores application of GIS in economic analysis for smaller geographic areas, in particular, American Indian regions in South Dakota and New Mexico. The American Indian reservations are sovereign nations and their spatial extent varies from several counties to tiny settlements. We will demonstrate how GIS was used in performing economic analysis for these smaller geographies. The study was conducted under the aegis of Stronger Economies Together, USDA Rural Development Program.
