Abstract
How to Model Erosion: A Moroccan Case Study
Track: Water Resources
Authors: Madeline Clark, Mustapha Hajji
This case study for erosion modeling in the Bouregreg Basin of Morocco used 15 erosion scenarios, constructed in ESRI's ArcMap according to RUSLE, to examine how variation in data inputs affected the severity of erosion rates predicted, which increased by a factor of 10 as DEM resolution increased from 90 to 30 meters. GIS allowed researchers to flexibly and quickly conduct RUSLE scenarios over a large spatial area, which may aid in the selection of sites for expensive field studies.
