Using Spatial Analytics to Inform Capital Replacement Decision Making

CenterPoint Energy engaged PwC to improve system safety by providing expanded decision support for capital replacement projects. ArcMap and R were used to combine leak, integrity management, consumer, and condition assessment data to predict future leak rates across the distribution network and compute future maintenance and capital costs. The methodology presented is valuable to any type utility trying to determine when and where to invest capital to reduce risk.
