From Data to Decisions: Community Forest Monitoring Dashboards

Since 2009 JGI has been using mobile technologies to empower local communities in Tanzania to monitor their forests and chimpanzees. We present a system that leverages ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Server technologies to publish and visualize community data on maps and interactive charts. The system was developed as a client side application that uses an isomorphic javascript platform, namely Reactjs. This enables the application to perform in low bandwidth environments under challenging conditions.
