Abstract
Landscape Based Strategy for Prioritizing Catchment Selection
Track: Tribal/Indigenous Programs
Authors: Brian Mc Teague
Implementation of shoreline restoration and conservation projects requires that the association between nearshore, uplands and surrounding areas be considered. We devised a landscape based catchment prioritization methodology for the South Salish Sea. Catchments were rated by disturbance for a suite of human induced stressors and for ecological conditions. Catchments and ‘neighborhoods’ were designated for the management strategies of: conservation, enhancement, restoration or creation.
