Abstract
Spatial Discovery and the Research Library
Track: Research & Sciences
Authors: Sara Lafia
The UCSB Library and Center for Spatial Studies demonstrate how academic libraries can spatially enable data discovery to support research across disciplines. Formalized relationships between researcher publications and researcher-generated data expose the interplay between researchers and the data that they author. Linking data hosted through Esri OpenData to publications accessible through the UCSB Alexandria Digital Library research (ADRL) repository, through spatially referenced metadata, adds value to research products throughout the data lifecycle. This research also proposes an integrated data discovery mechanism for spatial and non-spatial data.
