Abstract
Place-based Indoor Positioning Using Crowdsensing Signatures
Track: Research & Sciences
Authors: Blake Regalia
A novel approach to passive indoor positioning by leveraging contextual information from modern smartphone and tablet devices to construct digital 'signatures' of place types. Contextual information includes date, time, air temperature, pressure, noise level, signal impairment and so forth. Signatures can then be used to identify never-before visited or unequipped locations where traditional space-based positioning systems that depend on infrastructure fail.
