Agile Project Management and Tooling for Geospatial App Development

Bayer CropScience and ESRI teamed to develop a web application to manage high volume, variety and resolution geo-data from agricultural trials. Built on AWS in time for the 2016 growing season, the app uses ArcGIS Server, ESRI's JS API, a PostgreSQL GDB and Apache. Agile methods including user-stories, wire-frames, daily scrum calls, frequent delivery, bi-weekly sprint plans, reviews and retrospectives, along with distributed development tools including GitHub and TFS, were critical to success.
