Serving Veterans with HIV Using GIS

The Veterans Health Admin (VHA) is the largest provider of HIV care in the US. Some Veterans with HIV must frequently travel long distances to access care. To better serve these patients, VHA’s Office of Rural Health is piloting the use of telehealth in four medical centers to extend care nearer to patients’ homes. Using ArcGIS Network Analysts’ Closest Facility and Service Area analyses, VHA was able to redesign the care model saving patient’s travel time and providing better access to care.
