FHWA’s Innovative New Traffic Noise Model Applications

The FHWA recently funded development of innovative re-platforming and enhancements to the legacy Traffic Noise Model (TNM). Unlike prior versions relying on proprietary software licensing, the new version leverages ArcGIS Runtime Engine to provide a suite of no-cost solutions for advanced 2D/3D noise modeling including a robust standalone application and an ArcGIS for Desktop, AutoCAD and Microstation extensions. This presentation provides an overview of these solutions and lessons learned.
