Precipitation and soil moisture are among the most important parameters in many land GIS applications. These data are available globally from NASA GES DISC in GIS-ready formats at 10-km spatial resolution and 24-hour or less temporal resolutions. In this presentation, we’ll demonstrate how rainfall and soil moisture data are used in ArcGIS to analyze and visualize spatiotemporal patterns of droughts and their impacts on natural vegetation and agriculture in different parts of the world.
