Abstract
Comparative Spatial Analysis for SF Bay Restoration Monitoring
Track: Conservation
Authors: Peter Kobylarz, Chris Zumwalt
WRA used multiple spatial approaches to determine the most effective way to monitor tidal vegetation growth at the Yosemite Slough restoration site.
WRA GIS staff compared field observations to spatial data derived from high resolution photos captured via UAV and side-scanning LIDAR. Approaches included proximity analysis, remote sensing, and hand digitization. This hybrid approach allowed us to produce higher quality measurements of veg. growth and informed methodology for future projects.
