Abstract
New GIS Technology for Developing World National Statistical Offices
Track: Statistics
Authors: John Fitzwater, Derek Azar
The U.S. Census Bureau builds the capacity of developing world national statistical offices (NSOs) in enterprise GIS, satellite imagery analysis, and mobile data collection to support censuses and surveys. Developing world NSOs have the opportunity to leapfrog steps in geospatial technology adaptation. Barriers to development include infrastructure limitations and security of statistical data.
