The Water Quality Protection Land program of the City of Austin, Texas manages conservation easements using ArcGIS Online to help protect water quality and quantity of one of the most productive aquifers in the country, the Barton Springs segment of the Edwards Aquifer. Barton Springs, the fourth largest spring in Texas, feeds an important historic year-round swimming area and is home to a federally endangered salamander. The aquifer also provides critical groundwater to the drought-prone area.
