Abstract
Application of the Getis Ord Gi* statistic (Hot Spot Analysis)

An appropriate distance band is critical to Hot Spot Analysis and requires several important considerations. Using point features with density values for rockfishes and corals and sponges combined, I determined an appropriate distance band for each of six analyses by examining the distribution of point data values, the number of neighbors at different distance band sizes, and the spatial distribution of points relative to seafloor topography. I will present these steps and the Hot Spot Analyses.
