Abstract
AUVs for Marine Geodatabases, Toward an Automated Conversion Script
Track: Oceans

Due to geopolitical restraints, the Red Sea has had a distinct lack of recent in situ. Several autonomous underwater vehicles have been collecting in situ physical parameters of the water since December 2014. This wealth of new, frequent data allows for more precise geospatial analysis. This paper developed an automated model to convert netCDF data from the AUVs into feature classes for marine geodatabases, including calculating geostrophic velocities and direction relative to 500 m depth.
