Using GIS to Map our Nations Wastewater Infrastructure Needs – CWNS

The Clean Watersheds Needs Survey (CWNS) captures the Nation’s wastewater infrastructure needs in a Report to Congress every four years. The 2012 report was downsized from 150 to 40 pages. This paper describes the GIS based solution developed to create a mapping application to serve as the online companion to the hard copy report that would allow users to access and utilize their reported infrastructure needs on the state, county, congressional district and individual wastewater facility levels.
