Using ArcGIS ModelBuilder to Assist in Pipeline Geohazard Monitoring

Geohazard monitoring is an important component of safe pipeline operations, but for expansive pipeline networks such monitoring can be tedious and time-consuming. ArcGIS ModelBuilder was utilized to efficiently monitor flooding, precipitation, and seismic activity for a pipeline network spanning 8 states in the upper Midwest, USA. By using GIS to automate most of the data processing tasks, it was possible to regularly evaluate over 1,000 different locations against potential pipeline geohazards.
