Abstract
Landscape Models with Python, ArcPy, Pandas, GeoPackage and Spatialite
Track: Forestry
Authors: David J Anderson
The Helena and Lewis and Clark National Forest are using a spatially explicit, knowledge based landscape, stochastic vegetation simulation model to estimate the natural range of variation for vegetation and disturbance processes on an eight million acre project area. Python was used for the analysis due to its ability to integrate techniques from Arcpy, Pandas and open source GIS and the ability to manage tabular and spatial data in Geopackage databases with SQLite and the Spatialite extension.
