Utilizing Portal and Collector to Start a GIS on Campus

Starting completely from scratch in 2015, BYU-Idaho’s new GIS shop implemented ArcGIS for Portal to showcase the benefits and capabilities of GIS. Non-GIS employees use Collector to gather and update water, gas, sewer, and electric utility data as well as facility information about drinking fountains, doors, classrooms, restrooms and other assets. This information is now selectively shared with and distributed to students and employees through various delivery platforms to improve decisions.
