Abstract
From the Vine to the Bottle – GIS within a Medium-Sized Wine Company
Track: Agriculture
Authors: Douglas Wood
Scheid Vineyards (Monterey County, CA) uses GIS to manage over 4,200 acres of premium wine grapes. Our day-to-day operations depend on the analysis and display of real-time geospatial data from a variety of sources, including vineyard infrastructure, irrigation, soil moisture sensors, weather stations, labor tracking, and logistical scheduling. As part of our growth, we are also exploring the use of ERP software to integrate our vineyard GIS data with our winery, and sales and marketing team.
