Leveraging ArcGIS for ADA Ramp and Sidewalk Compliance

The City of Clearwater has a robust sidewalk inventory, but we did not have a way to track our ramps. After an incident involving a non-compliant sidewalk and ramp, we became proactive. We leveraged ArcMap buffer analysis tools to identify high traffic areas for immediate inventory and repair. We created an ADA ramp layer to track our progress. Then, using GIS, we created projects to identify areas underserved by sidewalks, and a plan to bring all sidewalks and ramps to ADA compliance.
