Abstract
Mapping Global Midwifery
Track: Hospitals and Health Systems
Authors: Andrew Schroeder, Jessica White
Throughout much of the developing world childbirth remains a leading cause of maternal and newborn death. Often the reason for these deaths has to do with lack of access to skilled birth attendance. Improving access to trained midmifery services in targeted ways, guided by spatial intelligence, can make a significant impact on maternal and newborn survival. Direct Relief is partnering with the International Confederation of Midwives to build the world's first global map of access to midwifery.
