Abstract
A GIS Based Decision Support Tool for Hydropower Planning
Track: Water Resources
Authors: Abdul Moiz, Akiyuki Kawasaki
The study focuses on the development of a GIS-based decision support tool for selecting the most suitable run-of-river (ROR) schemes to maximize the small hydropower potential of a target watershed. The developed tool was then fully integrated in a physically based distributed hydrological model to evaluate the hydropower of the snow dominant Kunhar River Basin, Pakistan. A total of 27 ROR sites were identified in the basin with a hydropower potential of 242 MW.
