Abstract
North Carolina and Geiger Lidar
Track: Disaster and Emergency Management
Authors: John Lay
In 2016, North Carolina decided that 8 ppm (acquired at 30 ppm) Geiger Technology would be used to complete the final 2 of 5 phases of a new statewide Lidar collection that began in 2014 as 2 ppm QL2 Lidar. The tighter ppm collection allows for greater accuracy in water flow and floodplain analysis and expanded feature extraction capabilities used in hazard risk determination and potential impact damages for the public. The results have been exceptional despite some initial learning curves.
