Abstract
A Pragmatic Approach to HIV Hotspot Mapping in a Developing Country
Track: Public Health
Authors: Petro Rousseau, Robin Dyers
Researchers and public health experts alike develop methods and model spatial distribution of HIV/AIDS to determine hotspots. However, uncertainty remains regarding data accuracy. We present a practical approach to working with gap-riddled data using a variety of GIS tools. The result is solid support for decision making at governing levels, as well as a viewing tool for clinic staff to grasp the complexities of the pandemic in their local area.
