Abstract
Bird and Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) GIS Data Development
Track: Parks, Natural Reserves, Fisheries, and Wildlife Management
Authors: Joshua Coates, Kristy Capobianco
This presentation will outline a project that assisted air operations units, natural resources, & wildlife biologists in creating & maintaining standardized GIS data layers to support tracking & management of BASH incidents, mitigation zones, wildlife attractants & vegetation control. We will discuss how we leveraged the Navy's GIS to increase BASH awareness at the installation level & enhanced flight planning & operations by spatially analyzing the local area wildlife patterns & relationships
