Abstract
“Standing on the Shoulders of GIS”
Track: Environmental Management
Authors: Stephen Washburn
I will present a project specific example of using GIS as the foundation for 2D and 3D data driven mapping and analysis of a large environmental data set. This project took place at the site of a former chemical plant where over 750,000 tons of soil was analyzed, treated or removed from depths of more than 40 feet below ground. ArcGIS was used to generate 2d maps, web maps that made use of the ArcGIS mobile app, and 3D shapefiles that were used in volumetric calculations and 3D visualization.
