Abstract
Sun Protection Planning Using Geospatial Analysis
Track: Geodesign

SunSmart is a skin cancer prevention intervention led by faculty from the Keck School of Medicine and the University of Southern California aiming to improve sun exposure behaviors in elementary schools in Los Angeles. UV measurements were collected in schoolyards then compared with solar radiation analysis estimates using Pearson correlation coefficient. Validated UV surfaces were interpolated to support evidence-based recommendations using GeoDesign to provide sun protection for playgrounds.
