Abstract
Lessons Learned in Standardizing CAD for Importing Into Geodatabase
Track: Urban and Regional Planning
Authors: James Krolick, Steve Anderson, William Keever
The City of Aurora worked with VHB to move CAD more efficiently into their GIS. This presentation will address the lessons learned in creating a CAD standard and an automated FME workflow to test and import AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Map 3D Objects into a File Geodatabase. The process now takes 30 minutes compared to the two weeks required to perform it manually. Attendees will also discover options explored and chosen for providing automated QA/QC to those submitting files, and scheduling imports.
