Abstract
Modeling Cultural Resources at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
Track: Archaeology
Authors: Jered Hansen, Mark Nebel
Cultural resources at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (1.2 million acres in Arizona and Utah) are subject to potentially irreparable damage along roads and receding shorelines accessible to off-road vehicle use. Geospatial analysis and machine learning techniques are employed to develop predictive spatial models of resource locations in order to prioritize areas for inventory and protection. These approaches could help resource managers protect cultural resources in other environments.
