Abstract
Increasing GIS Data and Imagery Accuracy Utilizing Drone Technology
Track: Imagery and 3D Mapping
Authors: Bryan Dial, Trace Stanford
many field users of gis rely on our semi-annual aerial imagery, which quickly becomes out of date due to the high rate of development in the city. the use of esri’s drone2map extension has allowed the city to utilize temporally accurate imagery, making accurate mapping of assets easier for building, inspection, and field workers, with the added benefit of reducing imagery costs. we have also been able to use drone imagery to help in public safety operations.
