Abstract
Recovering from Severe System Damage & Outages after Hurricane Hermine
Track: Electric Utilities
Authors: Scott Howard, Charlie Tucker
The hurricane swept through Colquitt’s service area, leaving over 38,000 customers without power, testing crew performance and response time. For Colquitt, having an OMS share geodata with the mapping system meant complete data accuracy when it mattered most. Dispatchers communicated precise meter locations, traced lines, and planned an efficient restoration. Compared to their “old” system of phone calls and radio calls, crews shaved more than a day off of their complete restoration time.
