Abstract
A Statewide Indicator for Drinking Water
Track: Public Health
Authors: Komal Bangia
The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment developed an indicator to identify areas in California that are most vulnerable to drinking water contamination. Using geoprocessing tools (e.g. Union and Dissolve), geographic areas served by public water systems and domestic wells were allocated to census tracts. This allowed us to assign contaminant concentration and violation data, only available by water systems and sample locations, to census tracts in California.
