Abstract
Micro-Level Crime Directionality using GIS
Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Authors: Christopher Herrmann
This presentation shows how violent crime clusters in space, time, and direction. Crime analyses vary and can benefit from directional GIS analysis, which can show the specific direction of crime clustering. Crime hot spots can be very difficult to interpret and address at small geographic scales. Incorporating various spatiotemporal resolutions to small-scale crime analysis, provides law enforcement with a much more robust understanding of micro-level crime patterns.
