Maps play a vital role in tracking and guiding the Curiosity rover on Mars over the kilometers long traverse from Bradbury Landing and up Mt. Sharp, a 5 km high stack of sedimentary layers that appear to record the geologic history of Mars over 4 billion years in this area. This presentation will cover the spatial analyses and maps we use for rover and science operations day-to-day, for strategic planning, as well as locating the science observations we capture after every drive.
