The importance of understanding the impacts of wetland alteration during the post-hurricane urban development process is essential on coastal flooding. This study conducted a hot spot analysis using Arc GIS and CrimeStat IV program to investigate the relation between geocoded permit and damage data after Hurricane Ike to understand the spatial pattern of wetland developments in coastal Texas. This project demonstrates a useful application of GIS and CrimeStat in flood mitigation research.
