Abstract
Spatial Analysis of Loggerhead Sea Turtle Nest Depredation on SCI
Track: Research & Sciences
Authors: Tara Lopez
The loggerhead sea turtle is a threatened species with many barriers to population recovery. The Georgia Southern University Sea Turtle Program @ St. Catherines Island has aided loggerhead nesting success over the last 27 years. Nest depredation has increased from 5.7% to 39.4% in 2015-2016. The objective is to use spatial analysis tools to detect depredation hotspots. With GIS, conservationists can add a visual component to improve efficacy of nest protection for future nesting seasons on SCI.
