Building Science Communication Tools with GIS in Forest Inventory
Authors: Christopher Oswalt, Charles Perry
As needs of communicators rapidly evolve, a digital-first model is becoming imperative. The national forest inventory of the United States (FIA) is shifting to this model using the ArcGIS Online (AGOL) platform. We describe efforts of the FIA program to engage users to improve the design of scientific communication products. AGOL increasingly facilitates this process with advances that make geospatial technologies widely accessible to even novice GIS users.
