We present an advanced GIS analytical framework for evaluating risks to natural gas pipeline integrity. Understanding spatio-temporal patterns of these risks, informed by historic pipeline failure events and related climatological, environmental, and engineering factors, is critical to inform the placement of various sensor technologies, wireless network interrogation, and methane monitoring systems. Results will help to reduce risks associated with natural gas pipeline failures in the future.
