In 2015 the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) was involved in a two-week long search for a missing toddler with suspected foul play. Hundreds of canvass interviews were conducted with the use of paper surveys. An after action review revealed a more efficient process was needed. The agency’s Crime Analysis Unit developed a canvass survey using ESRI’s Survey123 application. In future searches, this process will allow for easy tracking of surveyed location on mobile devices and ArcGIS Online.
