Abstract
UAS (drone) Imagery for High Definition Pipeline Corridor Mapping
Track: Imagery and 3D Mapping
Authors: Brent Speegle, Devon Humphrey
A recent pilot project evaluated the ability of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to provide up-to-date high definition aerial imagery and detailed 3D terrain data for a 30 mile segment of recently-constructed pipeline. This new pipeline was not represented in any other existing imagery sources. This presentation will cover the challenges and outcomes from the pilot project and describe the potential uses of UAS as a new way to capture, process and deliver GIS-ready content in near real time.
