Abstract
Using GIS to Meet CA’s Disability Resource Needs During Disasters
Track: Disaster and Emergency Management
Authors: Caroline Jacobs
Being able to quickly identify and locate accessible resources during disasters is critical to serving the needs of individuals with disabilities and persons with access and functional needs. To streamline this vital process, Cal OES created a first-of-its-kind, statewide, GIS-based web mapping tool that emergency managers are now using to enhance the health, independence and safety of Californians with access and functional needs before, during and after disasters.
