Abstract
Conservation and Development Planning in Samburu Ecosystem, Kenya
Track: Conservation

Kenya’s biodiverse Samburu ecosystem is threatened by climate change and a proposed development corridor. Using GIS, we created species distribution models of key species in the ecosystem under current and future climate and development scenarios. We combined these rasters to highlight conservation priority areas for each scenario. Our results will assist in taking a proactive approach to conserving Africa’s ecosystems, which will inevitably be affected by large-scale development projects.
