South of Florida’s Lake Okeechobee about 27% of the historic Everglades were altered into agricultural land starting in the 1850’s known as the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA). EAA land was cleared and leveled for years, erasing most archaeological signs. Current data is limited in elevation and spatial resolution but these issues can be addressed with low cost, efficient, and repeatable UAVs. This provides new archaeological data previously thought to be invisible remotely.
