Abstract
Utilizing GIS to Discover Potential Groundwater Polluters
Track: Water Resources

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has created a forensic environmental screening tool called the Spatial Prioritization Geographic Information Tool (SPGIT). SGPIT allows DTSC to better address drinking water contamination through identifying high priority areas and mitigating groundwater. It combines data to spatially determine at-risk areas by combining disparate datasets into a usable product. DTSC may be able to prevent future groundwater pollution using GIS.
